Jordan A. Stern is a 2004 graduate of Rutgers University-Newark School of Law. In addition to his matrimonial practice, Jordan is one of a handful of New Jersey attorneys who concentrates in representing parents in child protection matters involving the Division of Child Protection and Permanency (DCPP, formerly DYFS). Jordan is a veteran trial attorney and routinely counsels clients in all phases of DCPP cases, including investigations, removal cases, abuse/neglect fact-findings, guardianship trials and appeals. Jordan speaks to professional groups about various family law issues and has lectured other attorneys on handling DCPP cases for the prestigious New Jersey Institute of Continuing Legal Education. With the top 5% of New Jersey family law attorneys, Jordan was selected to Super Lawyers in 2015 and 2016. He is a volunteer attorney with the Self-Help Resource Center of the Superior Court and with the Battered Women's Legal Advocacy Project. Before becoming an attorney, Jordan had a ten-year career in hospitality management. Jordan serves on the Board of Trustees of The Adult School of the Chathams, Madison and Florham Park and on the Borough of Madison Parks Advisory Committee. He is a member of the Family Law and Child Welfare Law Sections of the New Jersey State Bar Association and the Family Law Committee of the Morris County Bar Association.

Jordan is a divorced father of three thriving kids. His experience in successfully co-parenting with shared physical custody provides him with unique insight and perspective in cases involving children. Jordan is an avid community gardner and enjoys gourmet cooking, the arts, and all kinds of outdoor activities and travel.


• Negotiated and finalized a divorce with a lump-sum alimony buyout in excess of $1.25 million for the spouse of a high-net-worth professional.
• Prevailed in a post-divorce enforcement motion for combined support arrears exceeding $60,000.
• Obtained sole legal cutody for the mother of two children in her divorce from an abusive husband.
• Prevailed in defending a single mother in a DCP&P Superior Court fact-finding for abuse/neglect.
• Successfully represented a father of college-aged children in enforcing an out-of-state divorce decree.
• Obtained a Final Restraining Order with preferred parenting time terms for the mother of a toddler.
• Successfully guided a mother accused of substance abuse through a DCP&P investigation resulting in the allegation of abuse/neglect being unfounded.
• Obtained a dismissal in municipal court for a client charged with assault.
• Performed due dilligence and closed the purchase of a 3-family home in Hudson County.
